With the increasing emphasis placed on the environment and human health, exhaust system inspection has become a critical process that is closely monitored by official authorities. Carried out to make sure that the gases coming out of the exhaust mechanisms of vehicles in motion do not harm the environment or human health, this inspection is a technical test that is also known as exhaust gas emission measurement.

This test ensures that the exhaust gas emission values of the vehicles are at acceptable levels. The goal of this procedure is to reduce gas emissions that harm the environment and human health.

Gas emissions of the vehicles in Türkiye (excluding commercial vehicles) are periodically measured every two years after the first 3 years. To that end, vehicle owners are required to make an appointment for exhaust gas emission measurement within a certain period of time. Vehicle owners who do not have their exhaust gas emissions measured within the specified period may face legal sanctions.

What Happens if Exhaust System Inspection Is Delayed by a Day?

Periodic exhaust gas emission measurement is essential for vehicle owners. However, the inspection day may be missed due to unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, vehicle owners are obliged to pay a penalty for delayed exhaust system inspection, even if the delay is only one day.

How Many Days Prior to Vehicle Inspection is Exhaust System Inspection Performed?

Vehicle owners can go to the stations 1-2 hours before the inspection time and have their exhaust gas emissions measured. In doing so, they can easily complete the exhaust gas emission measurements required for the vehicle's inspection procedures.
